Cleveland State SEO Class #2

I particularly enjoyed last night’s class. In this session we decided to focus on 4 sites of the class participants. I didn’t get permission to post them here, so I won’t. But we saw some interesting things.

All four of the sites had very good content. That was unusual, from my perspective. Content is typically a major problem when doing optimization. But each site had some things we’ll be working on. Each had it’s own intricacies.

One site is brand new. So we’ll be talking about building out a smart linking campaign. We’ll want to talk about choosing and targetting good key phrases for all of the sites. One site had been optimized and that was interesting to see. We’ll be talking about how to keep that good optimization going.

If anyone has any questions feel free to post them here.

This was the itinerary for the day:

  • Review project site
    • Look at site
      • How many incoming links?
      • How many pages indexed?
      • How is the overall site architecture?
    • Do key phrase research – The most important part of any optimization strategy.
    • Set up a link building spreadsheet
    • Map out plan
      • Determine which phrases to optimize for.
      • Determine which pages to optimize.
      • Do we need to create additional pages?
      • Look for potential links

We still need to do more key phrase research. So we’re a little behind. But I’ve added some padding in the last class for just such running over.
