If you like to drive yourself crazy with this sort of thing, you should know that a Google update is going on right now. It always is cause for a lot of uproar at the forums.

The question is, “What does all this all mean?”
Google’s phallic obsession with being bigger than Yahoo is really not of much value to anyone from a searching perspective. It seems to be more of a pride issue that, once again, Google is bigger than Yahoo. It doesn’t seem to interest me, particularly. But the average surfer on the web might be impressed by that type of thing. I’m not really sure.
Either way, a Google update often causes tension and stress in the lives of webmasters that watch that sort of thing. And rightfully so for some. There are many people who are making entire livings out of where Google has elected to place them on the search engines. That’s a real risky way to live. But it’s nice while it lasts.
