Submission - Free and Paid Inclusion

Definition:

The act of submitting a web page to a search engine or website to a directory. Submissions can be done with an automated program or by hand. There are many programs available that promote submitting a site to thousands of search engines for a very inexpensive amount of money.

The reality is, they are primarily submitting your web site to free for all or FFA web sites. These are sites that will take any link. They move sites down the list as new sites are added. Eventually all sites are rotated off of the free for all site to make room for new sites.

As search engines continue to conglomerate, it is becoming very easy to hand submit your pages to the major engines. This is the preferred method by most search engines.

Paid inclusion is another type of submission where you pay the search engines a small amount of money for each page you want indexed in their engine. They then guarantee they will look at this page in a specified time interval. This is a guaranteed way of knowing your page will be indexed by a search engine.

If a page is not optimized, no submission will likely have any effect on a web site.
