Doorway Page

Definition:

A page designed as an entrance to a website. Many doorway pages are specifically created to rank high on a particular search engine. Sometimes referred to as a gateway page or a satellite page.

As of now, the precise definition of a doorway page is vague. A doorway page can be made up of nonsensical words focusing on targeted key phrases. These kind of pages are often highly discouraged by the search engines. They do not offer any value to the search engine's listings. Search engines look for these pages and actively try to ban them from their listings.

A doorway page can also be content-driven pages that target specific key phrases. These pages are often used to encourage a visitor to learn more about the site and also rank well for targeted key phrases. This kind of page is very similar to a landing page.
