I wanted to let you know that I’ll be speaking to the Albuquerque, New Mexico Chamber of Commerce on April 20th this month.
The title of my presentation is “Social Media: Why This Is Different“.
I’m excited about this, in particular, because I feel like I’m on to something new in this arena.
For years, I’ve often referenced Friedman’s book, “The World is Flat” in relation to how social media is effecting commerce and communication.
But I’ve recently come upon a concept that pushes this even further. I discussed it in my most recent ClickZ article: “No One Cares About Your Products”.
I was influenced by a speech I heard from David Meerman Scott, bestselling author of “The New Rules of Marketing and PR” and the new book “World Wide Rave.”
I now believe that if we, as companies, don’t truly understand the tectonic shifts that are occurring in marketing today, we will be completely sidelined in the conversation. Our prospects will make a point of ignoring what we have to say.
So, that’s what I’m going to be talking about.
But here’s where you come in, they asked me if I knew of anyone that would like to be a sponsor of the event. I said I’d ask around and see if there were any takers.
This is the information they sent me:

Ahh, I’ll be in ABQ on the 15th, too bad I won’t be in when you’re speaking! Good luck.
That’s crazy that 2 Clevelanders are going out to the same city in a couple weeks. We rock the Internet marketing universe, baby.
Sage, we would bring out all the bells and whistles and have a parade for you here in Cleveland, but we already celebrate your awesomeness and worship at your SEO altar. Sage really does Rock!
muah!

You are too good to me, Susie!
Thanks for the awesome comment
Haha; that image is great! Eye catching.
Interesting idea on trading off sponsorship for clothing wear. I know that’s done, but not often to publicly. If it hadn’t passed, I’d ask about the rates.
So two cool marketing ideas in one post. Nice!
Thanks Colin!
That means a lot that you said that.
I’ll let you know if I ever do something like that again.
Take care,
Sage
