Twitter And The Job Search

SageRock is hiring. If you stop by our blog, you probably have seen that post.

However, in this round of hiring we didn’t use the standard approaches. In fact, all we used was our blog and Twitter.

What we did was we first created that post on our blog. Then Greg and I sent out a notice on our Twitter accounts.

From there it got automatically posted to my Facebook account. All my Twitter posts go to my Facebook profile. I don’t know if Greg’s went to his or not.

But here’s where the magic happened…

People started Retweeting it.

I have about 465 followers. (I’m not really sure how that happened. I didn’t make an effort other than participate on Twitter.) And Greg has 184 followers.

The people who saw the post in our Twitter accounts sent it on to their friends on Twitter. And it kept going like that.

We ended up with about a dozen resumes all from one blog post and two tweets.

And I feel quite confident that we’ll be able to pick someone from that group.

Social media is extremely powerful. You just have to go with it and use it for what it’s for… primarily being social.

My name is Sage Frederick Lewis. My kid's name is Indiana Sage Lewis. I am filled with love and passion for many things in life. The list of things I like about life is MUCH longer than the things I don't like about life. So, since you don't have all day reading about the mundane things I love (some of which, btw, include: Rocky, Indy, SageRock, movies, pizza, cheesecake, running, exploring.) here are the things I don't like: Driving Meetings Zucchini (I like it fine. I'm just allergic.) I think that's pretty much it. My Twitter account is: http://twitter.com/sagerock My YouTube Channel is: http://www.youtube.com/sagerock

It looks like this was effective for your business, and it gives the industrious job seeker another hammer in the toolkit. I like it. Keep being smart and giving people real thinking that they can use. Thanks!

    Hey Craig!

Thanks for writing. Twitter has become something much great than I ever anticipated. It’s a really powerful little tool.

Thanks again and see you soon!
