For a variety of reasons, we haven’t developed a solid marketing plan for 2009.
I thought I’d use this space to map out a marketing plan for 2009 for SageRock. It’s better late than never. And actually, we still have just under 3 quarters to go.
- YouTube Videos
- Strategy: Create 3 videos a week to help build relationships with subscribers and continue to show leadership in Web marketing industry. Sage has been trying to be more personal in nature with these videos. It seems to be getting a steady flow of subscribers.
- Goal: Current YouTube Subscribers (as of April 24, 2009): Subscribers: 447. Goal of 600 YouTube Subscribers by January 1, 2010.
- Goal 2: Currently getting about 300 views a day at YouTube based on TubeMogul numbers. Goal of 400 YouTube views a day by January 1, 2010.
- WebMarketingWatch.com
- Strategy: Commit to making this a viable web marketing video resource.
- Goal: Using “Visitor Trending” in Analytics We are getting about 15 visitors a day. Goal: Get 30 visitors a day by January 1, 2010
- Goal 2: As of April 24, 2009, we have 367 RSS subscribers through Feedburner. Goal: 500 RSS subscribers by January 1, 2010.
- SageRock Blog
- Strategy: Make this a central resource for our clients and prospects.
- Goal: Currently has 102 RSS subscribers as of April 24, 2009. Get it up to 150 RSS subscribers by January 1, 2010.
- Goal 2: Using “Visitor Trending” in Analytics, the overall SageRock site gets 83 visits a day. The goal is to get an average of 125 visits a day by January 1, 2010.
- SearchEngineGuide Video Posts
- Strategy: Sage will continue to make himself more known here.
- Goal: As of April 24, 2009, we get about 50-60 views on that YouTube channel a day. My goal is to get about 125 views a day by January 1, 2010. I’m using TubeMogul for estimating these numbers.
- SearchEngineWatch Bi-weekly Promotions and Link building articles
- Strategy: To continue Sage’s presence here.
- Goal: Sage’s goal here is to get some metrics on this. Sage would like to know how many people view his pages and subscribe to his RSS feed.
- Private Client Emails
- Strategy: To continue to offer this resource to all SageRock clients and continue to offer resources through this newsletter that add increasing value to having a relationship with SageRock.
- Goal: As of April 24, 2009, we send this newsletter to 47 addresses. By January 1, 2009 we will send it to 65 email address.
- Goal 2: Our open rate is almost always well over 100%. Keep it above 100% by always being relevant and useful.
Summary
We are clearly finding that our expert status continues to be our most effective way of reaching new clients. This has been the case since the beginning of SageRock. The difficulty is that these are all labor intensive. In 2009 we need to break each of these items into steps. Then we can determine what needs to be done by senior people and what needs to be either outsourced or managed by entry level people.
Videos are clearly the biggest multi-step aspect to our marketing. Things like editing, uploading, writing descriptions and summaries all could be done by an entry level person or outsourced. This would also allow us to do more things such as start a podcast.
Additionally, we need more promotion of all these things. Link building, social sharing, networking with bloggers.
