I’m not a very organized person. It’s just not in my nature.
It’s not that I don’t value the merit of organization, my mind just doesn’t work that way.
But as Greg mentioned to me yesterday, it’s not that I can’t be organized. I just don’t like being organized.
To prove him correct I am hereby officially declaring Thursdays at the SageRock blog: Manufacturing Marketing Day!
(And Tuesdays are going to be Airport Marketing Day, but more on that on Tuesday.)
Every Thursday I’m going to focus on a topic that has to do with the manufacturing and machining industry and their marketing.
It’s an area we have a lot of experience with at SageRock. We’ve worked in machining and manufacturing since our beginning in 1999.
It’s also an awesome area for online marketing and advertising because of its scale.
These are usually big ticket items that are sold nationally or internationally. It’s perfect for the web.

The hot air balloon at IMTS 2012
I was at IMTS in Chicago this year. It’s the largest machining show in North America.
I did a survey of companies there on their use of various online marketing techniques. I’m really excited to show you the findings. They’re very interesting.
But for today’s post I want to point you to the article I published at ClickZ on the topic:
A Survey of Machining Companies at IMTS 2012
I will show you the specific findings on other Thursdays.
But the summary is this: search is a huge component of the machining industry.
These are companies that clearly understand the value that search engines have on their companies.
I would say that if you are a machining company and are not using search to generate leads for you and your distributors you are behind your industry.
I would strongly recommend researching search engine marketing and how you can use it in your company.
But here’s the good news: I’m going to help you with that!
In the weeks to come I’m going to talk about all the different tools and techniques you can use to help generate leads for your sales people and make the most of this landscape.
All of these posts will be organized under the Manufacturing Marketing category here:
