Overture.com Preferred Bid Management Tools
As Overture.com continues to be the dominant pay per click engine, people need ways to easily manage all of their listings. To do this there are a set of tools to automatically help you keep your positions where you want them, at the price you want to spend.
Using tools like these can save you many hours and easily manage hundreds if not thousands of key phrases over a multitude of pay per click engines. Additionally, these tools will monitor gaps in the bidding costs to find the best position for the most economical price.
The downside to all of these handy tools it that they are weighing heavily on the web server resources at Overture.com. Using these tools unchecked, people are able to check and update these listings continuously throughout a day.
To handle this overload, Overture has recently assembled a list of authorized bid management tools. These tools are now limited to making bid changes only six times per day, though bids can be manually changed as often as desired.
In Overture's Licensing Agreement they write, "...we have entered into agreements authorizing several companies to provide automated bidding tools to Overture's advertisers, provided that these vendors agree to appropriate usage limits and other restrictions contained in written license agreements. We believe this will maintain the integrity of our systems, while providing the structure and consistency our advertisers seek."
This list currently has seven preferred tools. They include:
www.BidRight.net
www.ClickPatrol.com
www.goToast.com
www.PPCBidTracker.com
www.PPCManagement.com
www.SavePerClick.com
www.SureHits.com
If you are looking into doing some pay per click advertisement or are already actively involved, you might take a look at these programs to help you free up some time while keeping your positions where you want them. The pricing and features vary considerably so doing some research will be worth a bit of research.
Overture says there may be other preferred providers down the road. However, while other tools aren't yet banned from Overture, investing in a tool that is not on their list might be money down the drain in the future.
